Default Connection Issue

All of a sudden, I am having problems with my internet connection. I connect
through a router to DSL. Now when I open IE or Firefox, I go right to the
internet no problem. Randomly, during the session the "connect' dialog opens
up and asks if I want to connect. If you say YES, it will not connect. If
you cancel or close out the box, you will remain on line with not problem for
a while. Then the box reappears. Some times everytime you change the page.

In some case you will have to close the application and restart to continue.

I have run the network setup multiple times.

Hi
What is the connection arrangement (wire, wireless).
It seems that you have lapses in the connection.

Default Connection Issue

Thanks Jack,

I am hard wired to the router (netgear WPN824 2). The router is wired to
the modem. The issue is on the hard wired computer. The wireless ones seem
to be OK.

Issue appears mostly with IE. All of a sudden in the middle of a session it
will ask if I want to connect, if you say YES it doesn't connect. If you
cancel it, and try to change a page you get the second dialog which informs
you that the web page is not available off line and when you click go online,
you connect.

I am at a loss right now.

HI
If the settings in the browser Internet option are correctly set, try this
process, http://www.ezlan.net/clean.html#refreshnet

Further to Jack's comment "If the settings in the browser Internet
option are correctly set," open Internet Options (either from Control
Panel or from the Tools menu of IE), go to the "Connections" tab, and
make sure that the radio button to "Never dial a connection" is selected.
