"Module for MS Printing failed unexpectedly during initialization"

I have just installed Windows XP Home (over Windows 98SE).
When I attempted to install a printer (HP DJ 720) using
the Add Printer Wizard, it all seems to work until I
click on Finish. It then gives the message "Printer
Driver was not installed. Operation could not be
completed.

After trying a few times I (finally) checked the
setuperr.log to see if there were any problems with the
upgrade - where I discovered the following message

"Module for MS Printing failed unexpectedly during
initialization"

I have tried searching the knowledge base to no avail -
does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do now ??

If this was an upgrade installation, did you leave the printer connected
during the upgrade? If so the drivers may have become corrupted.... see the
uninstall and reinstall instructions at

When you come to reinstall, ensure you're logged on as an Administrator or
User with Admin Rights.
