ATT uses Yahoo for email.

Considering how often Yahoo email gets royally hacked, what you're
telling me is that if I ever end up using ATT as my ISP I should
definitely look elsewhere for an email provider.

it's best to use a separate email provider no matter what isp one has,
and for a variety of reasons.

I agree, and that's what I've been doing for 20+ years. Above, I was
speaking in a more general sense. I wanted to bash Yahoo a little for
their lax security.

While ATT uses Yahoo for its web mail in some ways it seems to run
independently of Yahoo.

While I don't understand exactly how it works, I find it interesting.

Additionally I find it interesting that ATT uses Yahoo which is owned by
the competition.

Yeah. The funniest part is that the stock market believes that Yahoo
actually has some sort of value. It didn't have value in 2008 and
doesn't have any now but I guess traders are easily fooled.

It's not 20+ years for me, but I do the same. I used to use my ISP,
but having switched ISPs several times, I had to also switch my e-mail
address each time. So I finally (perhaps five years or so ago)
switched to a separate provider to whom I pay a low rate, and never
will have to worry about switching e-mail addresses again.
