Maximize Windows Explorer
There is no command line argument to force Windows Explorer to open
maximized. You could probably write a batch file that opens Windows Explorer and then maximizes the window, but I am not familiar with the exact command sequence. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Herb wrote: How do I force Windows Explorer to open maximized? |

You could try the IE New Windows Maximizer.

Maximize Windows Explorer
This can be done in 2 ways - depending on how you are using it.
If you are lauching IE from a shortcut, then right click on shortcut icon, select properties and define the Run dropdown as Maximised. Otherwise, open IE and resize the IE window (not using the maximise button at the top right) by streching the window edges to the extents of the screen. Now close the window using the SHIFT key. The next time you open IE, it should be maximised. Note that you may have to do this again in the future if the window is reset by a web page. If you have to do it again, always ensure that the last IE window you close is a maximised one if this happens and you close it with the SHIFT key pressed. Hope this helps. Windows Explorer is not the same as Internet Explorer, Martin.

Sorry, my fault. Don't know where I got IE from, but the same advise
applies. Martin "Leonard Grey" wrote in message ... Maximize Windows Explorer
I had this problem under Windows XP for a long time, but finally discovered a solution. Windows Explorer takes the size of its window from how Internet (sic) Explorer appeared when it was last closed. To make Windows Explorer default to opening maximized, open Internet Explorer, maximize it, and then close it. (If you close IE with a full-screen F11 view, Windows Explorer will open with icons instead of menus.) And what are you talking about? Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer? "flexser" wrote in message ... I had this problem under Windows XP for a long time, but finally discovered a solution. Maximize Windows Explorer
I'm talking about Windows Explorer, whose behavior is inexplicably tied in with Internet Explorer. I understand your confusion, because this seems utterly illogical to me, but that's how it seems to work. The suggestion regarding the shift key didn't work for me, but this does. However Internet Explorer looked, with regard to window size, when it was closed, that's how Windows Explorer will look when it is next opened. How interesting. The window size for Windows Explorer on my copy of
Windows XP has no relationship to the size of the last Internet Explorer window. And I can't recall any such relationship between Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer in all the years I've been using them. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est "A Day in the Life of a Web 2.0 Hacker" - PC Magazine http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2330952,00.asp flexser wrote: I'm talking about Windows Explorer, whose behavior is inexplicably tied in with Internet Explorer. Intrigued by your reply, I tried it on my laptop and got results identical to what I had previously found with my desktop machine. Both are running Windows XP, Version 2002, Service Pack 3; the desktop is XP Home Edition and the laptop is XP Professional, according to My Computer/Properties. Having played around with this a bit further, I see that the results that I found only occur when using the /e switch with Windows Explorer. On both machines, I was booting it up from a shortcut that used C:\Windows\explorer.exe /e in the Target line.
