Activate WinXP without the Activation Key

There must be a reason, the % of users using XP has actually increased over the last few months .... maybe because it's faster than 7, 8 or 10 ? If you load XP on a machine sold with 7 it really screams and you have plenty of resources left over. |

Activate WinXP without the Activation Key
"Paul" wrote
Note: I heard that MS no longer supports activation of WinXP. Since WinXP is the first OS to use network activation, we don't have a precedent yet for end-of-life activation server behavior. I installed WinXP a couple months ago (to try to fix a problem), and the activation was still working then. I didn't have a problem with it. Note that sometimes the HTML components of WinXP OS may mis-behave (server side changes cause MSHTML engine to not work properly). In an attempt to get the user to install a more recent version of Internet Explorer. It all depends on what kind of error you're getting, as to what you should do next. I wouldn't look for an activation hack, unless I'd given it a good honest try first and the server really was dead. If they switch off that server, it *will* be a news item. You'll read about it, in an industry starved for news. Microsoft does have some support options for activation issues, even if it means going to the Answers forum or something. There is a tool which provides basic background info about your install, as a means to help debug activation issues. MGAdiag https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 Do a google looking for MGAdiag output examples, for more info on what you should find. ******* Apparently on other OSes, there are different tools. This would collect two files, if a Microsoft helper needs to see them. Licensingdiag.exe -report %userprofile%\desktop\report.txt -log %userprofile%\desktop\repfiles.cab Paul In my experience the best long term solution is to use a genuine Microsoft product key for activation. I got mine as a perk from a charity in 2010. My MS WinXP product key has been used an reused. Currently I run one XP Pro 32bit on a physical machine and one a virtual machine. Check eBay. Best price I saw was ~$10. The product key was on a sticker on all XinXP machines manufactured. Your original product key sticker may have been lost, but so many have been recycled by professional companies that there will never be a shortage. |

Activate WinXP without Activation Key

He advanced the date past the expiration date and re-booted the computer. Now he can not use the OS unless it is activated, he told me. Does anyone know of a method that actually "works"? https://sourceforge.net/projects/xpy...butable/1.3.8/ You want the "bin" file. Under the "general" tab "Claim Windows as registered". There are other tweaks too, but that is probably the most useful one for offline use. Hi Shadow, I sent that link (above) in your reply, in an email, to my ham friend. He acknowledged that he received my email, but I have not heard from him since. Again Thanks, John |

I just loaded one yesterday and the online server works fine. You can do it on dial up. |

But mine is the Pro version. Maybe he didn't click on "apply" or whatever. []'s -- Don't be evil - Google 2004 We have a new policy - Google 2012 |

I was able to restore a Windows XP Pro image from my desktop PC to my laptop using XPY, however doing so required that the desktop copy of Windows XP had already been registered. BTW, you can purchase a brand new Windows XP Pro SP3 Full Version DVD & Product Key for $19.75 on Ebay. Once you install it, you should be able to use XPY to claim it as registered, back up your image, and restore it onto another PC. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-Wi...IAAOSw-0xYYpXj |

In order to install WinXP, you need to enter the "PRODUCT KEY". FYI: My ham friend told me he was unable to "ACTIVATE" his new installation of WinXP after he replaced the HDD. He could not "connect" to that location (Activation) on the web. He told me, "there is no more activation support". Note: Since then, I told him to try the toll free telephone method (always "worked" for me). Even if there is still support for "ACTIVATING" WinXP after you install it. MS Activation Support WILL END some day. Then what? Some of us may want to continue using WinXP, after replacing a bad HDD (example), then install WinXP, which will need to be "ACTIVATED". John |
