Did you check to make sure there were w7 drivers for your hardware,
checking 32 bit or 64 bit? What is the make and model?

I would recommend Start10, from stardock.com, to make Win 10 look like
Win7. The full version is available as a 30 day trial.

Maybe, maybe not. I depends on whether all needed Windows 7 drivers
are available for it.

But I think doing so is a bad mistake. It takes only a little while to
get accustomed to something new.

Also see Monty's reply.

A strong ditto! And after the 30 days it's only $5.

Walter, you might also want to try Classic Shell. I think Start10 is
better, but Classic Shell is also good. And if the $5 is important to
you, you can save it with Classic Shell, which is free.

I prefer free programs. It's NOT about the money, but they can really
mess up on the "assume you're a thief" stuff.

You need to define what having "lots of trouble" means here. There is
absolutely no difference between 7 and 10 as far as I can see. Have you
tried buying her a Dummies book to see if she can read it and follow the
pictures from that book?

Windows 10 is one of the best around for a generation and she would miss
it if she decides not to use it. 10 is already here and likely to
remain here forever. There is no going back so either she should get
used to it or she should leave you and find somebody else who can help
her with her lack of computer skills.

The main issue I've seen with Classic Shell is that it tends to stop
working after major Windows 10 updates, requiring manual installation
of the latest version. I don't know if Start10 has this issue.

I haven't had any issues with Start10 on my 3 PCs and I installed my
first Windows 10 in August, 2015. My second install was in September
and my third install was in November, 2015 (I was a bit slow building
my 3rd PC).

Amazing. Disappearing scroll bars, the constant threat of updates and
reboots, the stuff divided between Control Panel and Settings, the way
the icons and controls are unpredictable under touch and pen control and
so on... You must be in denial.

I know I shouldn't respond to this troll who can't even follow standard
usenet protocol, but why be so offensive to someone asking a perfectly
good question?

I use both 7 and 10 ( and occasionally XP, Vista and 8) and sometimes
Mint and other Linuxes, and I will admit that W10 has some good
features, but to presume that everyone who disagrees with you is an
idiot just indicates blind arrogance or blinkered stupidity.

You are not looking closely enough.

Automatic forced updates for starters.

I use Start10, and I've never had the issue. But my wife uses Classic
Shell, and she's never had the issue either.

Tell that to the writer that I know who invested in a Surface Pro that
came with 10 Home. He left the machine overnight ready to file his copy
the next morning.
He may be less computer literate than he perhaps ought to be, but I'll
bet he's bigger than you!!!!!!!!
