Default Shared Documents is renamed???

Keith,

I tried setting the attributes and this has also made no difference.
I still only see "Documents" not "Shared Documents".

Can I somehow add a personalized name to the .ini file?

Hi Al,

Just to clarify, he desktop.ini alters the display name for the folder but not it's actual name.
When you browse to 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users', you should see a folder named 'Shared
Documents'. However, when you double-click on this folder to display its contents, the address bar
will still show the actual name, 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents'.

If you not seeing "Shared Documents" displayed anywhere, make sure the desktop.ini file has BOTH
hidden & system attributes set:

In a command prompt window, navigate to 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users' and type the following
command:

attrib +h +s desktop.ini

Explorer caches a lot of info, so you may need to kill/restart explorer or logoff/logon for the
change to take effect.

Hi Kelly,

Tried that and it made no difference.

I haven't relocated Shared Documents. On recovering the system that's
the name the computer came up with!

I am listed as Owner and everything is normal.

It's not a problem as such, just that I am curious as to what is going
on here.

Thanks,

Big Al

Hi,

Another option it to try:

[.ShellClassInfo]
,-33192

If still no change:

Questions: In which method did you use to relocate Shared Documents? Also,
when you right click your desktop My Documents/Properties, is your user name
listed twice as in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Al\Al\My Documents?
