Default Win 10 updates & Restore point

Soon after installing Win 10, I turned on system restore for the C:
drive.
With all the system updates I've received since then, a restore point
has never been created before an update.
Is this the norm for Win 10?
Cheers

Use Macrium Reflect. Windows utilities have always sucked and
they always will. Do it yourself.

One reason that can happen, is the status of
System Protection on your C: drive.

I checked my Insider Edition in 14915, and one
of my Insider installs listed C: as "[missing]"
in the System Protection partition list. In other
words, the status of C: was "enabled" so it
reflected my setting of having System Restore
enabled for C: . But it claimed on the other
hand, that something was missing. The controls
were grayed out, size was zero, you couldn't
make restore points, no restore points were listed.
You couldn't change the settings. It was well
and truly jammed up.

I've since installed 14936 over it, and both installs
are in working condition again.

In the System Protection item on the left in the
System Control Panel, there is an option to create
a restore point on demand. You can use that function
to test that the plumbing of SR is working.

Thanks Paul
I should have mentioned in my post that I've used "Restore Point
Creator", a free app which adds an item in the scheduler.
I've set that to create a restore point every day at 4am, so I can
recover if needed. That's been working OK. Of course I also do
disk/partition backups to an external drive.

I was just mystified why windows update, of all things, isn't doing a
restore point creation.
Cheers, Gary
