Default messenger has encountered a problem

I keep getting "messenger has encountered a problem" error popups. I
disabled the Messenger service in Windows XP services and uninstalled MSN
Messenger...but the popups won't stop. I also installed the latest DirectX
9.0b and have a firewall running. This problem just started yesterday.
What's going on???? It's truly annoying!

Greetings Spiderman,

Since it just started yesterday, I would suggest using System Restore -- click Start, then
Help & Support, then "Undo changes to my computer using System Restore" and then go through
the wizard to restore your computer back to when this wasn't occurring.
