Yes, ASCII was 7-bit, but I don't think that was the reason. ASCII

The first computer I ever worked on was an IBM 1401 (I programmed it),
starting in 1961. It used EBCDIC (pronounced EBB-suh-dick and standing
for Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code), which had 6-bit
characters.

Sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean? I typed it in usenet and we can
both see it in usenet.

That has to do with what newsreader he uses and how it's set, not with
its being usenet.

Thunderbird's being able to send and display many more characters than
Agent is the main reason I switched to it recently.

And pretty words, too. Cadence? What an odd word
to use. And Ubuntu can also be consumed as a container.
Debs (debutantes?) may be universe or multiverse....
This is starting to sound Star Trek kinky.

I never found how long it's supported for, but I'll
take your word for it. After a few paragraphs it's
just too painful to keep reading someone who uses
the language so artlessly.

Who's he? Me? I see a Euro character. But some
won't if it's not the same number in their codepage.
Also, fonts come into it. I discovered that when I
added UTF-8 support to my coding editor. It works
fine, but only a unicode font can show it. I normally
use Verdana for scripting and HTML. With that I get
what seem to be codepage characters for the UTF-8
non-ASCII characters. But if I change the font to
MS Arial unicode it works fine.

So it could be that some fonts don't have a Euro
character. Then there's the possibility that someone's
reader has done a UTF-8 switch somewhere, resulting
in an invalid UTF-8 character.

Which is yet another reason for English speakers to
skip UTF-8 unless they need to share files with non-
English speakers. Lots of unnecessary complications.

I'm not sure what you mean by "in here," but I can write it here in this
message: €

E2 82 AC

So it takes three bytes to represent the Euro.

https://utf8-chartable.de/unicode-ut...er=128&names=-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8

"Examples

Consider the encoding of the Euro sign, € "

In that article, the Euro is a worked example of how the coding works.
How "20AC" becomes "E2 82 AC".

The characters on either side of that insertion (in Kens message, as
seen on HowardKnight), are 7 bit (msbit is zero).

There's a mention of 300 baud here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modem

"The Bell 103A dataset standard was also introduced by AT&T in 1962."

It's possible the later epoch, was the introduction of that
baud rate, using acoustic couplers. The earlier product
might have been hardwired or something.

I was using 300 baud in high school. I didn't realize just
how unusual this was, until I got to university, and everything
there ran at 110 baud. Boo and hiss... No wonder the students
used to drink in university... I blame it on the usage of Teletypes.

You tried to hire me to crack into other peoples private computer

Similarly, the MASTER-*stalker* called Beauregard T. Shagnasty has

Can you tell me a bit more about your experiences on "Mac

You have to ask?

Yes, I do. I cannot find you on the 'uk.comp.sys.mac' group for

David, no matter how hard you try to spin things around, it's not
going to work. You have a well known and established history. As do
the sites and various individuals you're attempting to attack now
with more bull**** lies.

It seems that YOU can't recognise that once your cohort, Shadow,
had promulgated the address of your defamatory web page at
Archive.org the persistence of your 'live' link is absolutely and
totally irrelevant.

Your continued interest in having the original url downed then is?

Readers of Usenet will eventually question why you, someone who
doesn't ever use Microsoft Windows, deem it ethical to INSTRUCT
newbies in the mysteries of one of the most vulnerable operating
systems on the planet.

Most readers of usenet, Mike Easter and other newbies being a
possible exception, will not be questioning any of us about something
you've written. You have no credibility. We do.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that you're desperately
trying to put your own history through another spin cycle; hoping you
can convince someone/anyone? that you aren't the asshat, drunkard,
stalking piece of **** so many (and more are learning) already know
you to be.

Spreading malware, are you?

Do you have any evidence that supports your accusation?

Out of date websites do *HARM* - not good.

That depends entirely on the material offered on the site. Some
material doesn't really go 'out of date'

They are a breeding ground for malware.

Explain, in your own words, how a non interactive read-only from the
visitors point of view site is a breeding ground for malware?

Websites need to be properly maintained and administered.

By all looks of things, that's being done.

You have failed in your role as Webmaster. :-(

You've been caught lying your ass off multiple times. As well as
intentionally violating copyrights of others when it
suits/pleases you to do so. You've also been caught attempting
to hire individuals to hack (crack actually) into various sites
you'd already been banned from. You want others to commit
felonies for your benefit and when they don't, you resort to
trying to blackmail them.

That's not QUITE true. *YOU* are the *ONLY* one AFAICR.

That's correct. I didn't let on that you were a target and I'd
scored a bullseye.

Other than your known dishonesty, is there a particular reason you
aren't sharing the entire contents of your inquiry leading up to

I'm totally honest with good guys. What else would you like me to
