Default Dell Bios and HP All-in-One Printers w/ photo card readers

Dell's Bios on 4550's is currently AO5. However, when
connecting hp printers with photo card readers (e.g., hp
2210)using USB2, the computer will not reboot, if printer
is left on. According to HP, this is due to Dell having
sub-standard BIOS, whereby the BIOS attempts to boot up
from USB mass storage device. The only solution I know
with a Dell is to keep printer off when rebooting.

It's sad Dell is behind here in providing a BIOS upgrade.

Does anyone have any further info on this?

Have you contacted Dell about this?

I have exactly the same problem, but Dell see it as an HP problem,
even though my previous DELL PC worked with the printer without
problems.

I have spent loads of wasted time on this, and I can't seem to get
across to DELL that everything is working as their BIOS intends, there
is no technical issue other than the BIOS wanting to boot off my
printer's memory card slots!! So there doesn't seem any point in me
spending time reinstalling drivers and XP when their BIOS is the only
thing that needs fixing!

I am just about to reinstall XP again (as DELL support recommend) only
in preparation for its return as unfit for purpose!

If you have any better news, please let me know!
