Default Calculator Lost?

Seems I lost my 'calculator' after the last update.
Anyone else?
I know I used it several weeks ago.
Thanks,
Buffalo

OK, I found it in system32 and made a shortcut to the task bar. My search
couldn't find it.
Strange that Search couldn't find it like it used to.

You kids!

Start : Run : control

When Control Panels appears, look for the Indexing Options
control panel.

Program the indexer so that it indexes more of C: .

There are still some parts of C: that won't show up in
a search, but you could probably cover off System32 without
too much work. System Volume Information is pretty difficult
to look inside.

*******

Using an SSD, this is pretty fast as a search alternative.
Agent Ransack. Free.

https://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/

( The commercial version is called File Locator Pro. )

It does not use an Index.

It searches the whole drive.

It has regex capability.

It can do content searches, and the content search is
multithreaded. If you have it scan a source tarball
you've unpacked, it will read multiple files at the
same time (N threads). If you have an SSD, and had
a 4C 8T processor, it can scan 8 files for text strings
at the same time.

Basically, it gives you almost the same capabilities
as the search in Windows XP.

Well, I do have an SSD and thanks for the Agent Ransack. Free suggestion.
Strange thing is that before the windows update, I could just type cal into
that magnifying glass search option and the calculator immediately showed
up. Not since. Curious as to why this happened.
Now if I type in calc I just find Libre Office calc.
Either way, thanks for your reply and I enjoy reading your posts and they
are factual and helpful.

SSD or not, If you want to do searches by file name, Search Everything
is *much* faster than Agent Ransack. But it doesn't do searches by
content, so I recommend getting both.

Also, if you use the Windows Calculator on a regular basis, consider
assigning a hotkey to it. Since the Windows 98 days, I've assigned
Ctrl-F11 on each of my PCs. So far, so good. In 20+ years, nothing else
has come along and stomped on my key assignment.

Thanks, but I already have and use Search Everything. It is excellent.
But, back to my original problem, why did the magnifying glass search not
find the Calculator like it always has in the past? No problem at all and
instant.
I just created a task bar shortcut for Calculator so no real problem
I think it had something to do with the latest Win10 update(s) (1903 era)
Thanks,

Thanks for that tip as using hotkeys was something I rarely used.

I've lost my Calculator App before.

I've also lost the Windows Store App.

Just to show Microsoft has no common sense (losing the
Store, loses them potential "sales"). You'd think they would
have a repair routine for the Store Icon at least.

it *does* find calculator here,

Did you install Cul Update for Net Frame KB4502584 or Cul Update for Win10
ver 1903 KB4501375 yet?
Not sure that is what caused my little problem, but just checking.
I installed them on Jum 28 2019.
Thanks,

Calculator can be uninstalled. Reinstall it from the Windows Store.

If Windows Store says it's installed, find it in SettingsApps, click on
it, choose "advanced options," press the button marked "reset." If that
doesn't work, uninstall/reinstall from SettingsApps.

No idea why this happened to you, but it *should* be easy to fix. God
knows Win 10 is flaky though. It's starting to feel like Linux flaky.

All else fails? Go he

https://winaero.com/blog/get-calcula...in-windows-10/

Get the Windows 7 calculator and install it. It doesn't scale well
though.

I hadn't, but I just did, and tried searching for calculator again. It
still finds it without a problem.

What is all this nonsense? There are perfectly good sims available
for many decent calculators that run on Win 10 eg:
