Laptop not seeing networked printer till Logging on to Desktop Computer
I'm new to networking so please bear with me in describing
this problem. Running Windows XP Pro on Laptop. Running WK2 Pro on Desktop. HP 722C printer physically attached to Desktop. Machines are networked using a Linksys WRT54g router. I'm able to print from the Laptop to the Desktop printer ONLY after I logon to the Desktop machine thru the Laptop. How can I automate or prevent having to Logon to the Desktop from the Laptop to accomplish printing? Thanks so much for your help!! |

Either enable the Guest Account on the 2K PC or add the User Name and the
password of the XP PC as a User on the 2K PC. On the actual printer on the 2K PC, right click and enter Properties. If you have a Security tab, ensure that Everyone is allowed to print. Laptop not seeing networked printer till Logging on to Desktop Computer
I added the administartor Logon Id and password of the XP
PC as a user to the WK2 PC User group and enabled the guest account. Everyone is allowed to print on the printer when I cheked the security tab. Still not working until I log on to the WK2 machine from the XP machine. Should I have added the name of the XP PC as a user to the WK2 User group instead of the Administrator ID? -----Original Message----- Either enable the Guest Account on the 2K PC or add the User Name and the password of the XP PC as a User on the 2K PC. Laptop not seeing networked printer till Logging on to Desktop Computer
I did both steps. Added laptop user and password to User
Group on the Desktop and also activated the Guest account. Checked printer security and verified "Everyone" set up for printing. Still can not print from the laptop untill manually logging on to the desktop from the laptop. Do you have additional suggestions?
