JRE 8?
Hi All,
I noticed that JAVA 8 is ready to go. http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...s-2133155.html Is JRE 8 ready for prime time or would you stick with 7 for now? Many thanks, -T |

Many thanks, -T My primary reference is the Java installation test at http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp, which says my Java 7 u60 (7.0.600.19) is the current version. I also look at the "Java Downloads for All Operating Systems" page at http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp, which says "Recommended Version 7 Update 60". I am not sure I will want Java 8. Java 7 gives me the option to run an unsigned Java applet from a Web site after I whitelist the site. I understand that Java 8 will block all unsigned applets and not give the user any option. -- David E. Ross The Crimea is Putin's Sudetenland. The Ukraine will be Putin's Czechoslovakia. Hi David, Thank you! I wonder if signed java will cut down on viruses? Bad guys will probably just sign the stinkers. -T |

I'm running Java 8u5 and you can still whitelist pages on the Security tab of the Java Control Panel. -- Brian Gregory (in the UK). Many thanks, -T What do you use Java for? Just asking! Java is used on two Web pages that I frequently visit. One page is an entertaining game of no consequent. The other page is a color-picker that I use while creating Web pages. -- David E. Ross The Crimea is Putin's Sudetenland. The Ukraine will be Putin's Czechoslovakia.
