WLM 2011
"relic" wrote in message ... "Lemon Saucy" wrote in message ... No. I plan to continue with Thunderbird until WLM 2011 is fixed. When they fix it I plan to switch back. I've used OE for many years etc. etc. and was quite content, but I'm not going to use something that is outright broken i.e. WLM 2011. So I will just wait. WLM 14.0 works like you want it to (it's the version I use). It's available he http://software.informer.com/getfree...ows-live-mail/ That link no longer works. If anyone wants WLM Version 14.0.8117.0416, use this link: http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows...e-mail-dl.html You have to delete ALL of WLM 2011 before it will install (your customizations will still be there). Save the download in case you accidently install WLM 2011 "Important Update" again. |

I really liked the older 2009 version and I just could not uninstall the newer 2011 version so I downloade Thunderbird and I'll it as it is more like the older outlook express that I did like years ago. You can also move WindowsMail to W-7 and remove WindowsLiveMail. A quick Google will show that many people hate WLM. We did so I loved WM from my Vista PC to my W-7 PC. ............... I have tried to install Windows Mail to Win-7 but in vane. WLM 2011 is a complete disaster !!! How could Microsoft did that to its customers? Shame... disgusting... |

TIA Copy WindowsMail from a friend's Vista PC and move it to your W-7 PC. I used a flash drive. Maybe MS will smarten up and add WM to W-7 in the future. You're dreaming. WLM id great and here to stay. No going backwards. "If it works - don't try to fix it" - WM works and it's not a step backward. What's wrong with having to chose between WLM and WM ? |

Welcome to the TB club. I, like you, tried WLM with Win7, but found it too unreliable, as it frequently failed to post. IMO it wasn't as good as OE6 under XP. And if MS isn't going to fix the "show previous post" issue (ie it doesn't show anything, even a "" for previous text), that makes it unusable. Remember also that MS has no interest in Usenet news now - it prefers its own forums where it has full control. TB isn't perfect, but it is better than WLM. Me three. What I really wanted was OE6, but the closest proximity I could find is TB 2. It has the added advantage of being available in a portable version. I find myself sticking to older versions with a lot of programs. Actually I ended up taking thunderbird off the machine as I could not get it to filter out frank and alias. The message filters didn't seem to show any easy to use kill file filters so I put wlm back on this machine. I prefer wlm 2009 but can't find any download on microsoft. All I find is this 2011 version which I don't like but I have figured out most of it but I can't get it to quote when I reply to newsgroup posts. Have to do it manually. This is ONE problem with WLM 2011, and the others are missing Tools at the toolbar. This WLM2011 looks very "amateurish" like very early version of Netscape. There is definitely something MISSING from this Microsoft product. I take this version of WLM2011 as an insalt to all customers of Microsoft. But at least my kill filters make this an alias and frank free experience. -- Crash What happens online, stays online. |

LS My newsreader, 40tude Dialog, also greys out the signature, thus kind of obscuring the reply by news.aioe.org. It seems lots of people like to add there comments after the signature delimiter. I tend to ignore them. I wonder - is there a setting somewhere in WLM to change the quote delimiter character? Maybe it has the wrong default but can be altered. Yes - in my version (Version 2009) under Options - Send - Plain Text Settings there's a checkbox. It's not the signature, though. It was WLM 2011 messing up the reply. It is broken. Now as to your question is there an option to change the dahses to something else? Not that I can tell - you will have to contact Microsoft, I guess. If you do, while you are at it, please ask them to fix plain text posting in WLM 2011. Then I can use it again. Thanks LS So what are you using now? |
