Should I put it in a few Linux groups, then? If you want.....I don't care. My reply was prompted by your interjecting "Linux" into it, and how it's OK for people that champion Windows bringing up Linux in this group, but not for those that champion Linux to bring up Linux here. Don't think you've got the hang of this troll lark. Do you think Windows user in here are in anyway interested in Linux? Sure....why not ? You think everyone is that closed-minded ? So, what do you and your ilk get out of preaching about Linux in here? I don't know what you my 'ilk' is, and I don't 'preach' about anything here or anywhere. You're not going to change anyone's habits because we all sing from the same hymn sheet. (Whatever that's supposed to imply.) So, one wonders what your motives are? I have no motives other than killing time until I decide to do something IRL that's far more fulfilling. Right now I'm contemplating going out and working on the 1965 Chevy Van in my driveway....(To be more accurate, working on building the motor that goes inside the 1965 Chevy van in my driveway.) Fair enough. Nice to see a tradesman-type person tinkering around with his van engine just like Linux geeks like to tinker with their O/S. I like doing something useful with my time like going to the theatre, concert or opera. |

Fair enough. Nice to see a tradesman-type person tinkering around with his van engine just like Linux geeks like to tinker with their O/S. I like doing something useful with my time like going to the theatre, concert or opera. Well...the work on the van is far more than 'tinkering'. It's more like completely rebuilding. The engine is brand new and half assembled. The body's got a good 100 hours or more of body work I will need to do. It's pretty rough, but solid, if that makes sense. The reason I bought this one was it was cheap, it was complete....all glass, light lenses, etc., those small parts that might be hard to find for a 40+ YO vehicle, and it was local. Old vehicles are hard to come by in NY. I just saw Ford Maverick on the road last week. I think the last time I saw a Maverick actually going down the road here was ten years ago. http://freakneck.cjb.net:8000/theredvan/videos/ |

I learned about Ubuntu in an MS Vista newsgroup. So, what do you and your ilk get out of preaching about Linux in here? You're not going to change anyone's habits because we all sing from the same hymn sheet. So, one wonders what your motives are? You only speak for yourself and quite badly I might add. I appears you are the only one who "took the bait"...hahaha! |

You are just telling us what we knew all along; Windows is for professionals and business people; Linux is for enthusiasts and jobless nutters; hth Boscoe wrote: ... will it never compete? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/microsoft/8095398/Microsoft-profit-leaps-to-5.41bn-as-Windows-7-becomes-fastest-selling-OS-in-history.html |

Kicking A** so much so, MS is doing their usual, can't beat 'em so try and sue 'em bit. Hahaha! Looser tactics at its best. As for Linux desktop, that simply can't be accurately measured, no matter how bad either side would like to prove it. So spare me the guesstamated BS, it just can't be done. Anyone with 1/4 of a brain can figure that out, yet the Zealots try, and ultimately fail. (But not in their minds as usual) ..Naturally denying the hard cold facts, that a free open source product user base could never be accurately measured is the norm. Hilarious! Of course Win7 has kicked butt! I pre ordered a copy myself after being offered a "deal" for being a tester. (Turned out to not be all that great of a deal lol ..Typical) After all the torchure of Vista, and/or getting tired of XP, of course Win7 has done so well, a no-brainer really. That surely doesn't make it the be-all. It just means hold-outs and disgruntled Vista users decided to move on, that's all. Whoopty-do! You Zealots trying to make a big deal out of the obvious just cracks-me-up. G'day |
