Default FS605 Netgear blinking led?

I have Subject switch, and one of the led lights, port 1, is blinking
off an on. No connection is made to the PC that is on port1. The switch
(port 5) goes to another PC in the same room and it accessible on the
LAN. The switch is connected to a router in another room (port 4) that
is accessible on the LAN. What does the blinking light mean?

Disconnect and reconnect the cable to that port.
Try a different port.
Reset the switch.

Is this the only switch in your network setup... just the one switch,
connected to the router?

Also...
Check the speed and Duplex mode of the node connected to the switch like
forcing NIC to 100Mb/s non-duplex, etc

I've had a Netgear do that, on a port with a PC that was powered off.
I couldn't figure out what it was trying to tell me, so just
unplugged it for the moment, and it stopped blinking.

Some of the GbE switches, have power saving modes, where the port
powers down until needed. It could be, that the device is oscillating
between power saving mode and regular operating mode (each port can do
that independently, of the others). In any event, the blink rate is
anomalous, and isn't the same as the "normal" blink rate.

Some people don't like those "new" switch designs, with the power
saving, because it prevents wake on LAN type applications.
