Help! Windows XP-task bar & window appearance changed to gray
After doing a new install of Windows XP Home Edition, upgrading Nvidia
Drivers and installing Service Pk 2, my task bar turned to gray and window appearance looks like Windows 2000 in all characteristics. I'm not sure if this means something is not working correctly. I have tried changing settings under display-appearance, nothing changes anything. Does anyone have any ideas on what this is or how to change it? I don't know whether to finish installing all my programs or what to do?? Michelle |

Michelle Hi, You set t have classic Start menu view, try to change it to the customStart menu by doing this: Right click on the Start Button, select Properties click on Start menu Tab and check mark the radio button for: (*) Start menu, click Apply then [OK] and Hit F5 to refresh. Does it help? HTH. nass --- http://www.nasstec.co.uk |

Help! Windows XP-task bar & window appearance changed to gray
Hi,
I checked Start menu view. It is set for the Start Menu not the Classic view. I tried to switch it just to see if it had any effect, but nothing changed. Whats really weird -- the start menu view - the start menu is wide with 2 columns and the classic view menu is a single column -- the way mine is displaying is like the start menu view (2 columns) but with the gray task bar and start button. Kind of a combo of the two. Could a virus cause this? I have just reformatted my drive and reinstalled. Do you have any other ideas? Thanks for your help, Michelle "nass" wrote: "tmspry" wrote: After doing a new install of Windows XP Home Edition, upgrading Nvidia Drivers and installing Service Pk 2, my task bar turned to gray and window appearance looks like Windows 2000 in all characteristics. Help! Windows XP-task bar & window appearance changed to gray
Right click on the Desktop and select properties. On the Display properties click on Appearance tab. Under Windows and Buttons: select WindowsXP Style Under Color scheme: select Blue or Default Or you can click on Advance Button and select the color you want. Click [Apply] then click [OK] and reboot your machine. If this a new installation did you installed the driver for the chipset and the Video card/Graphic card from the manufacturer website? Why aren't minimized programs listed in the Taskbar? http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs2.htm Windows XP Style Changes to Windows Classic( download the reg file and extract t your machine). http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs...alstylefix.reg HTH. nass --- http://www.nasstec.co.uk "tmspry" wrote: Hi, I checked Start menu view.
