That does not work all the time Steve. I have two
networks, with two seperate customers, where the only way you can share is to right click the directory share as and then you get two things you need to click, one of them is allow users to change my files, on these networks I enabled Simple file sharing, disabled it, stood on my head really.....On these systems the sharing does not work as advertised in any XP book I own. All file systems are NTFS. These systems both have W2K AS servers that are dual booting machines in the network. I shared 4 directories on 4 diff machines running XP Pro, one out of four on each just lets you have access, the other comes up with a you have no permissions dialogue, call the administrator. The funny thing is the W2K server can see and access the shares as expected. I thought an election system was going on in the background, but after sniffing it is not. I dont get this one.... -----Original Message----- In article 00a701c30965$ce844e30 , "sajeev" wrote: In my win xp pro system(connected in the network), while I try to share anything I am not found any permission tab, so I am uanble to assign permission for my folders can anyone please help me out to solve this problem Disable "simple file sharing", as shown he http://www.practicallynetworked.com/.../xp_filesharin g/01disablesimplesharing.htm -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
