Default sharing

In my win xp pro system(connected in the network), while I
try to share anything I am not found any permission tab,
so I am uanble to assign permission for my folders can
anyone please help me out to solve this problem

Hi,
Thanks for your kind help,but some of my other xp pro
systems without dissabling "simple file sharing " I can
see the permission tab and can able to give permission and
able to add users can u please tell me why not in the
other machine.

That does not work all the time Steve. I have two
networks, with two seperate customers, where the only way
you can share is to right click the directory share as
and then you get two things you need to click, one of
them is allow users to change my files, on these networks
I enabled Simple file sharing, disabled it, stood on my
head really.....On these systems the sharing does not
work as advertised in any XP book I own. All file systems
are NTFS.

These systems both have W2K AS servers that are dual
booting machines in the network. I shared 4 directories
on 4 diff machines running XP Pro, one out of four on
each just lets you have access, the other comes up with a
you have no permissions dialogue, call the administrator.

The funny thing is the W2K server can see and access the
shares as expected.

I thought an election system was going on in the
background, but after sniffing it is not.

I dont get this one....
