SP3 Access Denied
You must be freakin kidding me. Windows update has been disabled in my laptop
for a couple of years now (unresolved update service request-I was told "if it's working you don't need those updates anyway") and even though Automatic Updates is on, I stll have SP2. So I see the article on how to install it manually (gee, think anyone ever had a problem with it before?) and it says you can safely download it from the IT installation package, Ok, cool. Download that , it goes through it's whole rigamarole and suddenly I get "Access denied"! What the hell does that mean? Then I see something about "Windows has to reverse the installation". Ok, whatever. Then I see something about "windows has only been partially updated and may not work right". Comon, this can't be real. What the hell is going on? So now my laptop barely runs. I need my laptop and I'm not buying a new one because it will come with more Microsoft junk (I built a 64-bit computer so I could run 64-bit Vista-almost two years later, it never worked even once and finally crashed itself on my video card-and now they want me to give Bill Gates more money for Windows 7 to fix it?-that'll be the day). So two questions: how do I fix this and where do I complain to Microsoft? I've had it up to here with this crap. I'm sure this will be countless more hours (added to the hundreds) gone from my life that I can never recover. But they have me over a barrell cuz I need the apps, but soon no apps will work on Windows either and we can all switch to Linux. Sorry for the rant. Any info is appreciated. |
