Help please!! What Windows version, edition and Service Pack level? (For instance, I'm using Windows XP Professional edition, SP3.) Except for KB973346, Is the computer fully patched at Windows Update? http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu...6/default.aspx To check Services: Click Start, click Run, type or paste next line and press Enter: %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s Cryptographic Services should show: Status: Started Startup Type: Automatic Logon On As: Local System Cryptographic Services Provides three management services: Catalog Database Service, which confirms the signatures of Windows files; Protected Root Service, which adds and removes Trusted Root Certification Authority certificates from this computer; and Key Service, which helps enroll this computer for certificates. If this service is stopped, these management services will not function properly. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start. That service depends on Remote Procedure Call (RPC) It also should show Started, Automatic and Local System. The problem you are seeing could be the result of malware. You need to make sure you have backup copies of any Valued Data on your computer. You should do a full malware scan to see if malware is the source of your problem. Please report your results back here. FREE Malwarebytes anti-malware http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php Some excellent information he http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware HTH.
