Default I just reinstalled XP and I don't have internet

The instructions say to open command prompt and type ipconfig and get
my ip address.
I then try to open IE and type google.com and I get page cannot be
displayed.

What next?

Opps. Spoke too soon. I ran the Internet setup and rebooted, but I
still can't access the web.

devmgmt.msc

Does Device Manager show the NIC has a driver ?

Or is the NIC in the list of hardware with yellow marks
because it doesn't have a driver ?

Once it has a driver, you can verify the Network control
panel is set up. The default in the lower-right, is to
obtain the DNS server address from your ISP automatically.
Via the DHCP protocol.

In a command prompt, when you run nslookup, you get
some feedback on what server it is using (it will probably
list your own router or something).

*******

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\ nslookup www.sun.com
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.2.1: Non-existent domain
*** Default servers are not available
Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.2.1 --- my router, backed by the ISP router...

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: legacy-sun.oraclegha.com
Address: 156.151.59.35 --- DNS successfully looked up this number
Aliases: www.sun.com

I've also seen cases (like when an ADSL modem
connects a computer directly to the Internet, without
a router), where the "Server" value contains an
ISP DNS server name ("dns1.ispname.com").

*******

I use the www.sun.com site, because the address has been
pretty consistent over the years, the machine answers ping,
and the DNS lookup only returns a single result. If you
lookup Google that way, it might have half a dozen
or eight different addresses, which is a nuisance.
