Unique issue with KB960544 (Media Center Update - Feb 2009)
[Forwarded to WinXP Networking newsgroup via crosspost]
Anonymous wrote: I have two media extenders in my house: my Xbox 360, and the Linksys DMA2100; and a Vista Premium SP1 desktop machine hosting Media Center. After installing KB960544 (Media Center Cumulative Update - Feb 2009), my DMA2100 can no longer negotiate a connection with my Vista machine. I can assure you the networking is not an issue, and the Xbox 360 still negotiates fine. Basically, the DMA2100 attempts to negotiate twice before it will generate a new XXXX-XXXX key, and ask that it be re-set-up on the Vista machine. So I go my Vista machine, fire up Media Center, and "Add Extender", using the 8-digit generated key. It quickly checks the first two boxes, and then hangs/times-out after a few minutes at Step 3 (Configuring Extender). When I roll back KB960544 and restart, everything works fine. Throughout my searching, I haven't seen anyone else with this issue. Any thoughts? Thanks, Felonius |
