Paul Thanks, it seems my PC is OK for this. I want to put Win 8.1 on a 250GB SSD and use this as an alternate extra operating system on the same computer. |

As to compatibility... It's the other way around actually. Win7 and Win8 would normally support any SSD Though older versions of Windows will work with an SSD they do not automatically "TRIM" |

Need site to test current hardware for Windows8 compatibility. Peter IIRC, Microsoft has a downloadable compatibility tester, if Paul's answer is too manual for your needs. And it is more than just the SSD you should worry about. But the SSD is not a problem, according to philo (and I believe him). -- Gene E. Bloch (Stumbling Bloch) |

All I want to do is to have another operating system (Win 8.1) just for the Internet, isolated from my original operating system (Win7), but using all my existing hardware. I've done the compatibility test and all is OK for this project. |

Like I said last time you were basically asking about the same thing, perfect use-case for a VM. |

People often fail to get useful help because their description of the problem is ... ****ty. Nobody here is a mind reader. No, I take that back. There are a few people here who have managed to figure out what someone meant in spite of the poor or incomplete information given. But good information is still useful... -- Gene E.
