About Windows XP SP2
Hi there.
I read a profile about the new upcoming WindowsXP SP2, and it said that it had a lot of new enhancements applied to WindowsXP, especially its Firewall. Well I am wondering if the new Windows Firewall can block outbound connections or not? Thanks

and it said that it had a lot of new enhancements applied to WindowsXP, especially its Firewall. Well I am wondering if the new Windows Firewall can block outbound connections or not? Fouad: From the April 2004 Word file SP2 Firewall: "With the exception of some Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) messages, Windows Firewall does not drop outgoing traffic."

What it can control is a program setting up to 'listen' for incoming messages specifically for it, in addition to blocking anything else coming in -- Alex Nichol MS MVP (Windows Technologies) Bournemouth, U.K. (remove the D8 bit)
