Default Computer Can't See Itself

After installing SP-2 on this WinXP Pro machine, I no longer see it listed in
My Network Places. I see my wife's computer, connected to a wireless router
through her PCI wireless adapter, and I can read files from her computer, but
she can no longer see my computer in her Network Places. My computer's NIC
connects by cable to the wireless router, and the wireless router to my cable
modem. My System Properties/Computer Name tab no longer shows anything in
the Computer description field; before SP-2 it did. Moreover, I cannot input
anything into that field as I could before, and pressing the Change button
allows only for change of computer name or workgroup name. What I see listed
for my wife's computer in My Network Places is not the computer name, but the
computer description of her machine. I've turned off Windows Firewall on
both computers and run the Network Setup Wizard several times on both
computers without solving the problem. When running the wizard, I always
input a Computer Description for my machine in the appropriate field, but it
does not show in System Properties/Computer Name tab. I'd appreciate any
other suggestions. Thank you.

Never mind -- the problem is solved. I discovered that Black Viper's
recommendation that it is "safe" to disable the Server service in WinXP
Services prevents a computer from being seen in My Network Places. When I
restored Server service to "automatic," my computer was back to normal and
the computer description was again clearly read in My System
Properties/Computer Name tab. I am once again able to share files and
printers with my wife's computer.
