Try this, control panel, open system folder, advanced tab, performance settings
button, tick "adjust for best appearance".

Right click on the desktop and select properties.
Go to the appearance tab on your Display Properties:
1. Open the display properties, and then the Appearance tab.
2. Change Windows and buttons to Windows XP Style.
3. The color scheme will change to allow you to select the schemes Blue, Olive,
and Silver.

The visual effects that you are running will give better performance than
the XP theme..

daniel,

there are a few software in the market to make an older version of windows
look like windows xp. however, it will just be limited to the look. the
contents of dialog boxes, some windows applets found in control panel, and
sometimes, how windows reacts to certain things will still be limited to the
older version of windows.

hmmm...reading your question makes me wonder if you are using winxp with the
classic look on, or you have an older version of windows and you want to
make it look like winxp.

my aplogies, then, if my answer above proves to be different as to how i
understood your question.

regards!
