Still waiting for file explorer to show any files.

Repeatedly, off and on, I get this File Explorer crap!

I cannot do anything and walk away from my laptop in disgust !

I am sure the store would not take this back and what would they replace
it with ? There are not Win XP laptops available.

I still have my Win Xp laptop and it is still working perfectly.

M$ is trying to get people so ****ed off that when Windoze S comes out
people will gladly adopt the total cloud concept and having to download
apps only from Windows STORE (the S) thinking that it must be better
that Windows 10 that should have been named windows 9 (or in German,
Windows NO !).

M$ are total a-holes !

Considering that there are 10s of thousands of happy Win 10 users, I'd

A second suggestion is here.

Clean out all files with extension ".automaticDestinations-ms"
in this folder.

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestin ations

The %Appdata% is the invisible folder in your home directory.
The %% thing is an environment variable, and if you enter that
string into File Explorer, it should expand the variable and
take you into the folder in question.

Now, I had 43 of those files in that directory. I deleted them.
I tried to visit my Downloads folder. Bam! Fixed.

Note. When you delete the large number of files in there, the
folder you're working in becomes an automatic destination too.
So you'll see two entries appear in the folder. You cannot really
delete them all, and at least two will come back immediately.

When you delete a lot of files, and you know they are truly junk, it
speeds the process to go into to the properties for the Recycle been and
set it to complete delete all files not maintain them in the recycle folder.

Make sure you reset the parameter after your are done deleting those files.

because that is all you know how to do.

I try to do real work on Windows 10 and find that Win XP Pro is still
the best. Win 7 pro is poor but usable. The others I would not bother
with. Which is worse: Vista or Windows 10 ?

Personal opinion but I think you got a bur up your ass for win 10.
I do a ton of work on win 10 being an ex programmer and I compile,
design, make web pages, ftp, games, support for other people etc.

Maybe not your everyday, but I'm not playing solitaire all day!
And I've gone back to XP several times and find win 7 much much better
and I loved 8.1 (once I fixed the menu thing).

BUT, it was all the GREAT SAYERS that made me think it was a worthwhile
purchase. OBVIOUSLY NOT SO. Hate finding out the hard way.

I have never had so many problems with an OS and I started with my own
assembly language mini OS I wrote running on an Altair then an IMSAI.
After that CP/M for which I wrote assembly language drivers.

Then came DOS followed by baby Windows when IBM got involved
(unfortunately, killing off all the competitive small time
entrepreneurs. One of which purchased one of the first text editors
from me that I wrote).
Win XP Pro was a triumph (after all the service packs) but M$ had to
screw it all up with all the crap they added for corporate use that home
users had to plow their way through to get anything to work.
UAC was a stupid "innovation".
Idiots should be allowed to screw up their computer so IT people can
flourish.

All a plan by M$ to get to Windows S.

That's the real answer. If you choose to use a particular OS, learn to
make it work for you the best you can. Otherwise, use something else.
