Add / Remove Programs ; programs missing after SP2 update
After installing sp2 Xp, none of my previously installed software show up in
the ADD/Remove programs list. How can I get all my software registered with the add/remove programs manager ? Is there a utility available to do this ? TIA |

That link is older than XP SP 2.
Would you be saying that SP 2 is a clean install over the existing one? if so why is not everyone in the world having the same probelm? I'm thinking in my case sp2 overwrote some entry and thus lost the previous info. but, I just downloaded and ran ADD/REMOVE 4Good and it found all 127 installed programs ? So the info is in the computer and I want it back in the windows add/remove list ? Any other ideas ? thanks, "Carey Frisch [MVP]" wrote in message ... WTF does that have to do with him missing his entries in his Add/Remove =
Programs list? He clearly stated that they (seemingly) disappeared after = INSTALLING SP2! The link you gave doesn't pertain to that, only to installing XP ONLY, = and note the KB article date! Add / Remove Programs ; programs missing after SP2 update
John,
The "some part" that the installation deleted is a part of the registry. Most likely, no damage was done, so if you dont care, that program you have should suffice. Otherwise, search for "regedit" on your computer. With regedit, you can edit the registries and add the programs again. I'm not sure where you would find the entries for this, you'll have to ask someone else that or find them on your own. Hope that helps "Tom" wrote: WTF does that have to do with him missing his entries in his Add/Remove Programs list? He clearly stated that they (seemingly) disappeared after INSTALLING SP2!
