alt.comp.os.windows-10 is NOT one of them.

OK, then I'd recommend that Peter try an alternative provider.

That's an excellent suggestion. Or he could try contacting Astraweb
and requesting that they add the newsgroup to their server.

News.individual.net works for me but it isn't free (but only 10
Euros/year). Maybe someone can recommend a nice alternative for PJ.

I'll try Agent 8 first though.

Agent 8 is a newsreader. No newsreader in the world is going to be able to
subscribe to a newsgroup that isn't carried by your provider. If your
provider doesn't carry a specific group, your two options are to request
that they start carrying it and be patient, or look elsewhere for a provider
that carries that group. Note that you're not limited to a single provider.
You can have accounts at multiple providers, pulling some groups from one
and other groups from another. Your newsreader should make it all seamless.

Thanks, I've emailed the ISP with a request to have
"alt.comp.os.windows-10"
added to their list.

Let's see if he understands that this time through...

I hope you emailed your NSP and not your ISP. ;-)

NSP - News Service Provider
ISP - Internet Service Provider -Probably has nothing to do with Usenet

In the meantime, if you think they're taking too long to add it, you can
find it on some of the free servers that get mentioned here from time to
time.

I failed to notice what I hope was a typo. In the meantime, I withdraw

Thankfully, I got a reply from Agent 8 saying the Windows-10 ng was on
the list, so I did what I'd done umpteen times before (Tools|NG
directory|Update directory etc) and there it was.
There are only 4 posts on it though.

Why do you call it Agent 8? That's the newsreader that you're using and I
don't think it has voice recognition as one of its features.

User-Agent: ForteAgent/8.00.32.1272

As for the small number of posts, that makes sense if they just picked up
the group. If you need more history, you'll have to subscribe to that group
with another provider.

Over the past 3 months the daily average number of posts to windows-10

Actually 108 posts, once I unthreaded the list.

Some later posts were hidden in threads that started earlier.

But I did use my own timezone time, i.e. I started counting at 00:00 PST
Monday, 26 Jan 2015.

Windows 10 isn't even officially released yet, so I think we can be
sure this will change.
