Default how can i regain an enternet connection?

this is the 3rd attempt at trying to post this, so i am posting this in two
parts:
last week, i got a rid of several trojans/malware using malwarebytes. it did
an excellent job, however it seemed to leave me with 2 problems - no internet
connectivity and no sound on my media player. so i tried a number of things
and eventually arrived at the following computer configuration, but first,
heres my system info:

i run xp sp2 on a msi rs480m2 series amd athlon 64 (socket 939) ms-7093
motherboard with a ati radeon express 200 series display. i ran belarc and
under communications, it tells me that i have a realtek rtl 8139 family pci
fast ethernet nic, and a d-link airplus g dwl-g510 wireless pci adapter.
under multimedia, it lists a creative sb x-fi and realtek ac'97 audio
(realtek alc658c (I/0)). under network drives, there are "none detected." i
have a working speedstream 4100 ethernet modem with 4 out of 5 lights on. the
5th one (activity) only comes on infrequently and mostly remains dark.

my device mgr indicates, under network adapters,a 1394 adapter (ms), the
d-link adapter and the realtek 8139. under 'other devices,' a yellow "?" is
beside the multi media video controller (also previously listed were the
sound controller and the ethernet controller, but no longer). (cont below)
