Disk Check + Windows Messenger + Norton 2004 Pro
Disk Check in XP stops after phase 2 when Windows
Messenger 4.7 is being protected by Norton Anti-Virus Pro 2004. 'Windows is unable to complete disk check' is the msg given. When the protection is taken off of messenger in Norton the disk check when run completes. Is there a compatibility issue between XP messenger & Norton? Thanks |

Disk Check + Windows Messenger + Norton 2004 Pro
Greetings Boonie,
I don't have Norton AV 2004 here at the moment to test, but Norton's "protection" has been a problem in the past. All this "protection" does is automatically scan files for viruses when you receive them, instead of when you run them. Even with the protection off, when you run whatever you've received, Norton scans it anyway, so you really aren't losing any protection by turning this functionality off. I'd recommend turning it off and leaving it off to prevent this problem any other problems in the future. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "boonie" wrote in message ...
