I am presently using Windows Live Mail 2012 and would like to get a different free email program basically since this one doesn't work well with my NordVPN. Comcast.Net I looked in Google but I would like some recommendations. I already have T-bird installed for years but really haven't transferred all my addys and stuff into it yet. Any good sites that can walk you through transferring everything from the Live Mail to a new mail client? I have T-bird 24.0 as my email client and use Forté's Agent 4.0 as my Usenet agent, both under Win-7. Yes, I'm a bit of a Luddite but they work for me. My T-bird will import stuff like contacts and emails by going to "Tools" on the tool bar and selecting "Import". Unfortunately, v-24 only imports from MS's Outlook and Outlook Exress. Perhaps later versions will import from more programs. Agent will import stuff, too, but V-4 seems to only import messages from files inside folders. It will also import addresses and NZB's. Again, maybe later versions do better. To import in Agent: "File", "Import and Export", "Import" from the toolbar at the top of the frame. And, yes, later versions probably have this tool under different sub-menus. Old versions of Thunderbird: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/ Latest release: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/ or "/en-GB/ or whatever local language you prefer. Note: T-bird has Mac OS and *Nixxy versions as well as Win-64 and Win-32 ones. It can also be found in various languages at https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ , including such esoteric ones spoken by only a handful of people as "US English". Forté Agent, older versions: http://www.forteinc.com/agent/download-all.php Agent's latest: http://www.forteinc.com/agent/download.php Note: all Agents seem to be 32-bit and they are *definitely* Windows only. No *Nixxy, no Mac OS though it does run well in emulators and bottlers such as WINE and CrossOver. I know none of this helps but maybe someone will need it someday. J. Thanks, Buffalo Good grief. I thought you had morphed into Vanguard :-) -- Jim S |

I thought you had morphed into Vanguard :-) Not me, pal. Maybe Paul could do that but I am far too lazy to do a good impression of young Vanny. That guy must touch-type at about 400 words per minute. Me, I use three or five fingers (depending on what a "thumb" is classed as) and need to see both the keyboard and the screen to know what I'm doing. Paul and Vanguard are treasured resources, are kind and are very good at helping. I'm just a precocious, auto-didactic dilettante with a penchant for novelty. J. |

My niece said "thank you" when I helped her with issues. I was actually *successful* in solving them for her which impressed me no end. Solving Win-ten problems when you are doing it from a ten-year-old memory of playing with the OS in a shop is *cool*. Especially when half-awake. J. |
