Delete INstan Messenger from Win 2000
PLease help. I am online with windows 2000 and I keep getting all
these popup messages. They are clearly spurious. How do I disable the Instant Messenger feature? Sorry if I have the wrong group but I am too busy deleting these messages to do much searching. John Culleton |

Delete INstan Messenger from Win 2000
Greetings,
To be fair, it's not entirely a Windows problem per se -- it's an exploit of a Windows feature and has been considered dealt with as of XP SP2 (since the Messenger service is disabled by default). In Vista, the Messenger Service itself has been eliminated entirely. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger/MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2007 Jonathan Kay.
