Default WX Gadgets (third party)

Hello, all. I'd been using (albeit Russian) a Win7 gadget
"WeatherCenter" for several years without a hitch until about a month or
so ago. I'd been getting weather updates from "theweathernetwork.com"
but the gadget can also be configured to connect to weather.com,
accuweather.com, weatherunderground.com or weatherbug.com. The gadget
is now unable to establish connection with any of these sites and it
doesn't appear to be a firewall issue on my end. Does anyone know how
to get this gadget working again or know of an alternate Win7 desktop
gadget/widget that works? Thanks for your time and comment.

If you can stream your local radio (or TV) you can probably get to their
weather forecast page, which will be at least as good as a weather
widget for local forecasts and may be better.

Thanks for the quick reply, but to be clear, I'm not seeking
alternatives to desktop gadgets/widgets. There's lots of places to get
local weather reports on the web; I liked the convenience of having an
auto-updating small display on my Win7 desktop with current temp,
humidity, wind speed, etc. Sincerely,

The only thing wrong with this article, is it's four years old,
and the landscape could have changed a lot in those four years.

You can use a win32 application, but it's a lot of extra work for
the developer to make such a program look like a "gadget" with
custom window masking. That's why the programs listed on that
web page are "rather rectangular".

Just curious, did you check the Win 7,8,10 Gadget Site?

I've been using the Main Weather one for a few years and it's still
working.

And the NOAA (weather.gov) is better still, IMHO. When storms are
pending, and broadcasters like the Weather Channel are warning of a
snowpocalypse, weather.gov takes a more measured tone, usually
predicting lower winds and less precipitation than broadcasters, and
usually coming closer to what actually happens.

And weather.gov has a nice line graph of almost a dozen measures,
hour by hour, over the next 48 hours. So you can tell how warm it
will be at any time of the coming day, what the chances are of rain
or snow at any time, how much rain to expect in intervals, etc.

And you can customize the forecast to your exact location. We have
microclimates around here, so the forecast for the airport (which is
what I get if I just enter a zip code) is significantly different
from the forecast at my house.

I've got a Chrome bookmark on my phone, and a Firefox one on my PC,
for my "extremely local forecast".

Thanks for your reply and those from others to my OP. I did try
installing several (other than "WeatherCenter") of the Wx gadgets at
that URL you provided but they failed to connect to whatever site was
being used to provide the Wx data. Now, for some unknown reason my
favorite "Russian" Wx gadget that I'd been using for several years,
"WeatherCenter", is getting data again (currently from "The Weather
Network") as of this moning, 1/1/19. For how long, who knows?
