Default Interface w/ Exchange 2003

We are running Server 2003/Exchange 2003/ and XP pro on workstations. Messenger is displaying the "You are not signed into all services" I would like to enable inter-office IM with Messenger. I know that Exchange 2003 has an optional RTC server you can i
nstall to utilize that function. Is there a built in feature that I can activate on Exchange 03 without purchasing RTC server? What Communication Services Account does Messenger think I'm not signed into? Thanks for any help.

Greetings Donivan,

You'll see the "You are not signed into all services" if the option has been checked off to
log on to anything other then the .NET Messenger network. To correct this, open up the main
Messenger window, click the Tools menu in Messenger, then select Options and then click the
Accounts tab.

If you're using Windows Messenger 4.x, click the option button '.NET Passport' under 'Sign in
with this account first'. Then, uncheck the box 'My contacts include users of a
communications service', click OK and then try and sign on again. If you're using Windows
Messenger 5.x, verify that all the options are unchecked except for the top '.NET Passport
Account' option.

Unfortunately the "Exchange IM" service was removed in Exchange 2003 (first and last seen in
Exchange 2000), so without Live Communications Server 2003, there is no way to use internal
instant messaging with just Exchange.
