slow logon on win xp systems
I have a similar problem, when trying to logon to an NT4
domain from an XP Pro PC (it is a member of the domain, the network uses static IP addresses so no DHCP, there are no external connections and no DNS server, I am loging on as the domain admin) After entering the name and password it can take upto 15 minutes to actually logon. If you remove the network cable then it logs on quickly and upon replacing the cable all is fine. This slow logon only occurs the first time that you logon after the PC has started up. After the first slow logon you can log off and back on as and when you like. Maybe a single solution will help us both? -----Original Message----- Wenever i try to log onto a dell windows 2000 server from a dell win xp pro system just after entering the user name and password it takes between 2 and 5 minits to logon the the desk top. the mesage displayed while it logs on is "applying computer settings". once the system has loged on there are no problems with the speed of the network. there are no security policys set up on either the server or the workstation, and all the hardwere has been tested and the network cards have been changed. dose anybody know why this could be happening and if there is any solution Thanks . |
