Anyone care to add to the list of what's missing in Windows 10?

No DVD drive so no installing all the software you have.

No Microsoft office that you paid good money for.

I have Cyberlink PowerDVD 15. That's no good.

Blue-ray disks can't be played.

Microsoft doesn't want you to use a DVD drive for some reason. Do they
want you to use all new software that phones home from now on?

I just don't get it.

This is just a guess but Windows 10 seems to open the recently used
files not "this pc" like it did before try clicking on this pc and I
think you might find your DVD drive

Why would you not have a DVD drive? If you disconnected it, that's your
fault, not Microsoft's.

No Microsoft office that you paid good money for.

Funny, I am able to run Office 2013 quite fine.

I have Cyberlink PowerDVD 15. That's no good.

See above.

It's not Microsoft's fault that hungry hamsters left what was left of

Not sure what you mean by 'No DVD drive'. Your computer has the DVD
drive not Microsoft Windows. Software plays the DVD. Same as prevous
Windows.
Microsoft Office 2013 survived the upgrade for me and it works fine.

DVD drive still works and is present - installed Acronis 2015 earlier
today. I suspect you meant playing some form of entertainment in the DVD
drive.

Office 2013 was intact and functional

"This PC" is the first place I looked. Nothing in there.. Well I mean
everything is there but the DVD. It obviously worked to install Win10
but now MIA.

Well that's encouraging. I have been searching and came up with
nothing but the one that came with Win7 IF you had the Media Center to
begin with.

When I open the Windows 10 DVD software it says t place something in
the drive. I do and nothing happens. I see nothing in the device manager
either. No section for DVD/CD-ROM drives like there was in Windows 7.

Well I'm glad I'm wrong to blame it one Windows 10. Now I have to find
out why I'm not seeing it.I don't kn ow where to start. I see it in BIOS
but that's it. I plug in a DVD and nothing happens.

Al,

Unfortunately, your post seems to be a bit misleading.

1. You can't blame MSFT if you don't buy/build a PC with a DVD drive in it.
I have been using my BD/DVD ever since loading the Tech Preview back in
February. And I have loaded an old Office 2007 using a DVD.
2. Office has never been part of Windows so it is always a separate
expense. But why can't you reload Office on your device? Is it a bundled
OEM version that is only good on a different piece of hardware?
3. I don't use Power DVD on my Windows 10 system so I can't speak to its
ability to run under Windows 10. But the Cyberlink web page says it is
Windows 10 ready.
4. Is your complaint that you don't have a DVD, or that you need a separate
piece of software? Power DVD Pro and Ultra both appear to support BD.

There are also many free alternatives to Media Center so you might ask in
one of those groups; I don't do a lot of video work on my PC so I am
probably not the best person to ask for a recommendation.

Regards, Dan

Have you only search the software for the DVD/CD-rom drive or have you
tried to play a DVD/CD. It could be that the CD has not been used, so
there has been no need for the OS to run the plugnplay routine and
install the drivers for the DVD/CD

Cyberlink Power DVD 12 is is installed on my PC, it came with the
computer. When I inserted a DVD into the drive, I was immediately given
the option of using Power DVD to play the disk. It worked fine.

I am also puzzled about the claim in reference to Microsoft Office. I
have Office 10 installed and did so prior to updating to Windows 10.
It's still there. I also have the "lite" versions of Word 10 and Excel
10 on my laptop, they came installed on it.(Forgive me, I forget what
the proper name is for the programs.) With the laptop updated to
Windows 10, the programs are still there.

I've tried everything I can think of including installing software
from Cyberlink but at that point I get a message that no drive is
detected. Later today I plan on putting the original Win7 SSD back in
the system, cloning it again, and trying the Win10 upgrade again. The
drive is seen in BIOS and used to upgrade with so who knows what I'll find.
