Default Problem with activation

Ok, basics of the system are this:

Got ahold of some bad software earlier this week and it damaged one of the
critical files. I have a duel-boot system (Ubuntu Linux on the other boot)
so I used that to back up critical files, then bought a new copy of windows
home (lost the old disk) and repaired the windows partition.

My problem is this: When I try to log in to Windows, the moment I type my
password in and hit enter it brings up the activation window ("Do you want to
activate Windows now"). No matter what I choose, it just goes right back to
the login screen, and I cannot get to the desktop.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

When you done the repair with the new Disk did you insert the COA on the
case or the Key for that CD?

Just try the Registry Part and see if that will help.

Mind elaborating on that a bit? Your question was quite confusing (Try not

UPDATE: Now the system simply locks up, with the outline of the "Activate
Windows" window on the screen. I can get into Safe Mode, but only the one
without networking support. Also, the computer will NOT let me activate
windows in safe mode

It wouldn't help, because I can't enter the key. There's no way to type it
in, because the computer locks up before I get the text box.

If you can't activate via the internet, does it give you the option to
activate by phone or are you saying the Activate option does not respond at
all?
