This requires two actions.

Action #1, in Thunderbird:

1. On the Thunderbird tool bar, select [Tools Options].

2. On the Options window, select [Advanced General].

3. On the General tab, select the Chen Now button. (Ignore the "Always
check ..." checkbox.

4. On the System Integration window, check the checkboxes for those
items you want Thunderbird to be the default.

5. Select the Set As Default button to close the System Integration
window and then the OK button to close the Options window.

Action #2, in Windows:

1. Open the Windows Control Panel to get the All Control Panel Items
window.

2. Select the item Internet Options.

3. On the Internet Properties window, select the Programs tab.

4. On the Programs tab, select the Set Programs button.

5. On the Default Programs window, select "Set your default programs".

6. On the Set Default Programs window, select Thunderbird, then select
"Set this program as default", and finally select the OK button.

7. Close the Default Programs window by selecting the X in the
upper-right corner, then close the Internet Properties window by
selecting the OK button, and finally close the All Control Panel Items
window by selecting the X in the upper-right corner.
