ACPI enabling

I am having the same problem. I have SINXP1394; suppose I
do decide to reinstall XP, what should I do to turn ACPI
on?

If you flash your BIOS and enable new ACPI features, your XP install
will not match your ACPI capabilities. The kernel file and the hal.dll
file may need to be changed.

indicates that you can fix this by copying the correct file from the CD
after changing the BIOS settings to enable ACPI.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=237556 describes the various ACPI
file names and their descriptions. You can use this information to
select the file to copy from the CD.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299340 indicates that a repair
install can be used to change the HAL. The options presented may be
sufficient to allow you to select the right option.
