DVD Player Suddenly Doesn't read
Can someone tell me how I can get my F: drive to read DVDs again.
I was able to watch dvds on my computer now I can't. When I go into properties of the "DVD/CD-RW drive (F Properties It shows MAT****A UJDA750 DVD/CDRW on this properties windows under the DRIVER tab I click on Driver Details and I see 5 different driver files, but 1 doesn't have a check mark next to it C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\PxHelp20.sys I noticed it reads SONIC SOLUTIONS Driver not signed. Is this why It can't read DVDs. CDs Play Fine. CPU Games Play Fine it's just DVDs How can I fix this problem? Did I delete a file to make it not work? The other files with check marks are cdrom.sys imapi.sys redbook.sys storprop.dll Running Windows XP PRO SP2 Please can anyone help me because I am in the hospital trying to make my stay as comfortable as possible and watching 5 channels is not cutting it for me. -- Thanks Corky |

Hello,
It could be the laser/lens failing - try using another drive. DVD drives use two lasers/lens - one to read CD and another for DVD disc. You can try purchasing a lens cleaner kit and see if it helps. Otherwise, you will need to replace the drive. -- Singapore Website Design http://www.bootstrike.com/Webdesign/ Singapore Web Hosting http://www.bootstrike.com/WinXP/faq.html Windows XP FAQ "corkyB" wrote in message ... Hello,
To rule out that it is not the DVD causing problem, try playing it on another PC. -- Singapore Website Design http://www.bootstrike.com/Webdesign/ Singapore Web Hosting http://www.bootstrike.com/WinXP/faq.html Windows XP FAQ "corkyB" wrote in message ... My situation is- I'm in the hospital for a little while and there is only so much I can sleep, read, or watch the 8 ch. they show. Im using a Sony Desktop cpu so it only has 1 drive. -- Thanks Corky "SingaporeWebDesign" wrote: Hello, To rule out that it is not the DVD causing problem, try playing it on another PC. -- Singapore Website Design http://www.bootstrike.com/Webdesign/ Singapore Web Hosting http://www.bootstrike.com/WinXP/faq.html Windows XP FAQ "corkyB" wrote in message ... DVD Player Suddenly Doesn't read
Hello,
Are your Game Disks in DVD format? If not, it still does not rule out that the DVD laser is failing. With regards to the driver isn't signed,
To view information about the device driver This information helps determine the file version of the device driver. An icon appears next to device drivers that are digitally signed. Windows device drivers and operating system files have been digitally signed by Microsoft to ensure their quality. A Microsoft digital signature is an assurance that a particular file is from that manufacturer, and that the file has not been altered or overwritten by another program's installation process. Depending on how your computer is configured, Windows either ignores device drivers that are not digitally signed, displays a warning when it detects device drivers that are not digitally signed (the default behavior), or prevents you from installing device drivers without digital signatures.
Try searching on Windows Update for a signed driver, but if it is not available on the site, it just means that the manufacturer did not send it to be certified by Microsoft. -- Singapore Website Design http://www.bootstrike.com/Webdesign/ Singapore Web Hosting http://www.bootstrike.com/WinXP/faq.html Windows XP FAQ "corkyB" wrote in message ...
