Default Problems with "My Videos" Folder

Yesterday, when I was downloading some music videos, I realized that there
were some missing after they were put into the "My Videos" folder. After I
actually opened up the folder, I saw that more than half of my videos were
missing, even ones that I had downloaded months before. I tried dragging and
dropping the missing old videos from their original source, but they would
actually replace some of the older videos that were still present in the
folder.

I checked the harddrive through My Computer, and the folder came up
completely empty! All of my pictures and music were still there, but my
videos were completely gone. Is there any way to recover them? Or is this
evidence of something else going very wrong?
