Where can I get insider preview builds?
Got an email from insider announcing a new build.
But there doesn't seem to be any way to get it. Weather sucks and nothing but reruns on TV, so I've got some time to kill. Thought I'd check out the new update system. I no longer have any installed preview builds and don't want to corrupt my standard-build system. Seems they changed distribution methods. Only way I found was to download some decryption program and download the build from a Russian site that demands I install their downloader to do so. All that should produce an ISO. Sounds like a risky proposition. Is there a safe way to start with a blank hard drive and get the 14986 build? |

Only way I found was to download some decryption program and download the build from a Russian site that demands I install their downloader to do so. All that should produce an ISO. Good. Go and do it. Sounds like a risky proposition. Then don't bother with it. Is there a safe way to start with a blank hard drive and get the 14986 build? Thanks. I was hoping to get an ISO that I could just install. Guess I can clone my 1607 and go from there. |

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software- download/windowsinsiderpreviewiso Thanks, that's an older version, but should do what I wanted. I'm rethinking the plan. I was interested in looking at what they did to "give more control over updates." Since insider won't let you manage updates, I'm thinking I need to wait for the real thing. |

I finally got 14986 installed. It started downloading this morning. The Upgrade failed. And then it threatened to download the damn thing a second time. But, I'd copied the install.esd from Sources to my build directory, and made a DVD from it. Then, mounted the 14986 DVD I'd made from the Microsoft download, and did the Upgrade Install from there. It just finished 20 seconds ago. https://s27.postimg.org/e0z4d9iwz/W10_14986.png ******* You would download 14393 (AE) and let it update to 14393.xxx if you wanted to study any Win10 Pro improvements to control on the Release stream. The Insider Edition usually has a few gotchas for such things. The expiry date on 14986 is generous, so I don't have to worry about it expiring next week :-) Paul |

I got the impression from the email that the changes were only in the insider edition for now. |
