Have you tried copying them all to a directory for which you are sure you have permission and run them as administrator? Might also be useful to try to run them in compatibility mode. Depends on that description of "not run". By 'not run' I meant would 'not install'. IE when I double clickl on ..exe driver. Yes I tried running as administrator, No change. Johnny |

Thanks Johnny Make sure the driver has come from a valid source. One web page claims this message comes from SmartScreen. The article here recommends starting an Administrator command prompt window and running the executable that does the install from there. https://www.howtogeek.com/230063/how...in-windows-10/ I'm really surprised there is differentiated behavior here, and that doing it that way is somehow different/better. But it's worth a try. I tried the command window approach to disable. Same result. The other suggestion in the article, is this one. To enable the hidden administrator account, and do if from there. There's no particular reason for this to work any better. This at least got rid of the error. I tried the realtek audio driver again, and it says the system 'does not meet the standards of the driver'. Prob because I am in W10? Anywho, that does not make sense because I did have sound. Maybe an audio card is the only way out. Gotta find a cheap one. Have to open up the box to see what kind of slots are in the mobo. Thanks Johnny http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/windows-10-...-error-1516240 I suspect there are other reasons to be blocked, but then the error dialog would be different. Paul |
