Trying to get into msconfig
I started a thread last night kind of explaining the problem but it was
pushed to the 4th page, called "Everything starts in Adobe" The message was, "I have no idea what iv done to cause this, but I can't get into any programs. When I try, Adobe opens and says that the application isn't supported. I can't even open control panal. Can anyone tell me how to get everything back to normal?" Someone gave this help but going into "safe mode" and making changes won't do any good because the changes I make will not take once I go back into windows in normal start up. I get this message. "this action is only valid for products that are installed" Someone at Comcast told me over the phone to diable eveyrhing in startup to see if that would help but I think it may have made things worse. I can't even get the starup items to come back through safe mode. Also I get the message saying that I don't have the Authority or enough privileges to make changes to my computer. Even though my account is administrative I hope all this rambling makes sense to you "Wesley Vogel" wrote: Carolyn, It would help to know what you're trying to do. Trying to get into msconfig
oops.
Anyway, Do you know a way to get into msgonfig without using "run" And without being in Safemode? I need to get my start up items back. Iv tried msconfig in safemode but it won't take after regular starup. Trying to get into msconfig
Why do you think that you have to be in Safe Mode to start msconfig.exe?
MSCONFIG is the System Configuration Utility. MSCONFIG is msconfig.exe. msconfig.exe lives here C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache and here C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries You could navigate to one of those folders, locate msconfig.exe and double click it to start. But if it won't start from the Run box or from the command prompt, it probably won't start from either of those folders. -- Hope this helps. Let us know. Wes In , Carolyn hunted and pecked: oops.
