I7 stutters when I use Winrar
When I am watching video in VLC, and use NewsLeecher's repair extract
feature the video stutters. I have had slower machines do this without any stuttering. When I run Windows Experence index, my overall score is 7.6. Is there another built in way to test my mobo? Also, because I was getting an error that Aero is switching to basic I would like to know if my mobo is functioning properly? I have switched VLC to Direct3d output and have not reciecved the switch to basic error, but it still stutters. BTW I re ran the preformance index and still get 7.6 or higher. Have you updated the graphics driver with the latest? It shows your DirectX version to be 10, but with an AMD Radeon 6900-series, it should be version 11, shouldn't it? Yousuf Khan |

That's what one of their web pages told me. Have you tried looking through that file for hints ? I have no idea what the contents of that file are, how long the file is, and so on. With a 2600K, you have plenty of horsepower. Just a matter of getting VLC to use it :-) One web page mentioned some "buffer size" settings, which pre-buffers data for playback. I can't imagine that solving anything, unless you were playing over a network, and your Wifi network had just terrible performance (close to failing, in terms of being a network, like dropping out). If you're playing local files, on HDD or optical drive, the drives should be able to keep up. I'm convinced, that even if we had a CPU with "infinite" horsepower, someone would still be able to write a movie player application that stutters :-( Paul |
