Default Delayed Write Failed while saving / pasting / rendering

I've been using WinXP Pro SP2 for 6 months. No problems. Then suddenly while
in the middle of rendering a film it came up with the message. We tried other
software (Photshop etc) and still no success.

I even ordered new RAM and a new HDD thinking that one may be dying. I see
this is not needed after finding the error seems to be common for WinXP.

* I have been through the Microsoft website and tried all suggestions
according to this page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330174. Bought new
80-wire, 40 pin cable, set BIOS to default,

* Searched the Net for solutions.

* Ran Norton virus check.

....and still nothing. This came out of the blue and haven't made any changes
to the PC. It was working fine one moment and then a few hours later the
'Delayed Write Failed' error message came up.

Any help would be absolutely fabulous!

System Specs:

Hi there,

Have you REALLY tried all the suggestions on the Microsoft KB which you
mentioned?
even the workaround and the registry tweak?

If you have, then there are a few more things you can do. Here a few
excerpts from another forum which may be of use to you.

1.)......Turns out that I was over the 137GB limit.....I removed files from
the drive to get it below 137 GB and the error's went away. .....

2.).....right click my computer
advanced tab
under performance hit settings
advanced tab
under Memory Usage Select Programs
restart

Hope it helps

Doesn't look like this got posted the other day, so will do it again.

Hi Arun,

Thank you for your reply. I have indeed tried everything. Your 2nd option is
listed on that page. 'Programs' was already selected on my PC.

I also went to the Workaround which involved going to the registry and
looking for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session
Manager\Memory Management. I did a search for it, and manually searched the
registry, but I do not have that file.

One thing I will note is that '3. Turn off the "Enable write caching on the
disk" featu' is not possible on my C:\. There is no option, and the
Windows seems to think my C:\ is a SCSI drive??
