Default red x in XP Home SP2 Help & Support index window

When I click on 'Index' in Help & Support all I get is an empty box with a
little red x in a black box in the corner. I have a dual boot with XP on a
new blank hard drive, and ME on a separate hard drive. I have tried
uninstalling some programmes on XP--Sygate firewall, Avast anti-virus with no
luck.
I would appreciate any help I could get.
