appears :

Fatal Error :
an error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing . one of

the manifest file contains one or more syntax errors
pree OK to view setuperr.log.
so i reboot and log into Windows ME (because i have 2 version of windows on

what can I do , there are many important programs installed like (VS .NET,

Default Windows Setup Fatal Error?

What I would suggest you do is reinstall Windows XP on a new partition, then
take ownership of the files on the old installation thats now corrupted.

Its possibility that the Window XP installation media you using now is not
compatible with current installation on the drive that you trying to repair.
What you could do is, create a slip stream of you XP CD with SP2 and try to
restart setup again, and fix the installation.

I had this same problem a few days ago, but what I did was just install XP
in a different folder (different WINNT and Windows folders), on the old
installation that was available, took ownership of my Accounts and documents
folders. backed them up and did a clean installation of XP again.
